2016 is shaping up as another great year for the
Performing Arts at GPS. The Band Program has approximately 90 students.
For the past two years our tour has been to our southern capital.
This year, plans are to head North to Brisbane.
The tour will include performances at Cavill Avenue,
Surfers Paradise as part of the Gold Coast Children's Festival, and
performances in Brisbane and at a variety of venues including Queen St
A highlight of the trip will be attending the Opening Night of Singing
In the Rain at the QPAC Theatre.
2015 saw the GPS Band program continue to flourish. After taking out the
Large Instrumental group at the Grafton Eisteddfod, the ensemble went on
to again tour the East Coast with performances at Port Macquarie Town
Green, Campbell's Cove Sydney, Manly Corso and had the privileged
opportunity to perform at Customs House Sydney.
The Golds Band also performed locally with a number of performances,
including Grafton Shopping World, Parents Night, School Performances and
the very successful Concert In the Park as part of Jacaranda 2105.
Public has made a commitment to an instrumental program for a number of years.
As well as being an enjoyable activity, an instrumental program enhances
thinking, maths and reading skills, which lead to increased success across all
part of a band program develops self-discipline, teamwork and
commitment. Grafton Primary is pleased to be able to offer this program
to its students.
